Lets Begin with Window Blinds
Window blinds themselves come in a wide variety of styles and designs. Many of the variations are to be utilized in different home environments. For example, if you live in an area which is bothered by cold weather, you may wish to look at what cellular shades can do for you. These types of window shades exhibit superb insulating properties and are often the best choice for people whom wish to keep in the warmth of their homes rather than allowing the valuable heat to disappear outside.
In contrast to the thicker and more robust window coverings there are the fabric options bought to you through Roman Blinds (Burlap is a nice material for Roman Blinds), pleated blinds and shades as well as the very handy (no DIY skills required) Magnetic Blinds.

I am particularly liking the above type of window coverings in my designs at present. In this example, they provide a unobtrusive focal point to the room, drawing the eye in the direction of the window.
If you have a large expansive window area to cover you could be forgiven for thinking that window blinds are prohibitively expensive. Good quality blinds are very much something which you will need to spend adequate funds on to ensure they a) look great and b) stand up to the test of time. Don't be afraid to shop around though given many blind retailers are hungry for your business and will discount if you ask.
